OTSEGO COUNTY — The Michigan State Police Gaylord Post has welcomed Trooper Turnquist and his canine partner, Rip, to its ranks.
A Traverse City native, Turnquist holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ferris State University.
He joined the MSP in 2018 as part of the 134th Trooper Recruit School and was first assigned to the Rockford Post, where he served for five years.
During that time, he worked as a field training officer and was part of the Secured Cities Partnership in Muskegon Heights.
After completing the 55th Basic Canine School, Turnquist became a canine handler at the Tri-City Post, serving in that role for two years. In July, he transferred to the Gaylord Post, continuing his work with Rip.
