JANESVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) — A Beloit man received the maximum sentence for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, the Rock County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

David L. Hamlet, 38, was sentenced to 40 years, with 25 years in prison and 15 years on extended supervision.

Hamlet was accused of assaulting the teenager after staying in her home in 2023. The Beloit Police Department's investigation found that Hamlet gave drugs to the victim and impregnated her.

Assistant District Attorney Alex Goulart argued for the maximum sentence, emphasizing Hamlet's lack of accountability. "He feels nothing for the victim," Goulart said, highlighting Hamlet's danger to the community.
