GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) --

Never forget your roots. It's a saying that reigns true for one local group of creatives. They wrapped the filming of their new movie, "Dual Plans," on Friday. It was shot around Glens Falls and is packed with action and crime, but the real story is a testament to community.

“This community has brought this to life in such a way that I don't think I ever expected a year ago" said film director Dan Slavin.

It all started last August when Slavin was on his way to a call-back for the national tour of Stomp.

“I'm a big dude, but I can dance pretty well" Slavin remarked.

On his way to the audition, he got into a car accident. One that first responders said he was lucky to make it out of.

"Instead I sat in a room and I wrote this over nine days" Slavin explain
