With a nearly $1.4 million provincial investment, the Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team hopes to ensure greater access to primary care for rural residents.
Through the Interprofessional Primary Care Team funding initiative, CKOHT has received $1.4 million in new funding to support the expansion of team-based primary care, connecting 3,000 residents to a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

More than 25 per cent of Chatham-Kent residents do not have access to a regular primary care provider. The funding aims to address that by enabling more people to receive care through existing family health teams and community health centres.
The announcement was made Friday at the Thamesview Family Health Team, with several dignitaries and other officials in attendance.
