PULLMAN, Wash. – A Washington State University fraternity is facing probation following an investigation into hazing activities involving new pledges.
The investigation revealed that hazing at Gamma Iota Omicron occurred last spring. New members were reportedly forced to carry items and would lose points if they dropped them. They were also blindfolded, moved to various locations, and yelled at.
Washington State University is mandated by state law to report Greek Row violations online. This requirement is part of "Sam's Law," established after the death of WSU student Sam Martinez in 2019 due to alcohol poisoning at a fraternity party.
Gamma Iota Omicron will remain on probation until May 2026.
