STATEWIDE – A TOUR BUS crash near Niagara Falls in upstate New York has left multiple passengers dead , reports the BBC . Authorities said they currently believe the bus, carrying 52 passengers, lost control before crashing into a median, then overcorrected and flipped over. The bus was returning to New York City from Niagara.

State troopers said several passengers, including at least one child, passed away from the crash, and that several children were aboard the bus. Dozens more passengers were brought to area hospitals and are expected to recover. As of 4:30 p.m., other passengers were reportedly still trapped at the crash site.

Authorities said most passengers were not wearing seatbelts, and that many were tourists from overseas; the state is working to coordinate translation
