ST. CHARLES - No more talk about data center projects in St. Charles, at least for now. On Friday afternoon, the St. Charles City Council unanimously voted to approve a one-year moratorium on data center projects.

The moratorium means St. Charles will not accept any new applications for building or expanding data centers for at least one year.

Many critics previously expressed concerns that a large-scale data center would raise energy bills, impact wildlife, and pollute the city's drinking water.
