GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 73-year-old man is facing multiple child sex crime charges following a year-long investigation, police said.

Garner police said Dr. Andrew Garland Cook was charged with 15 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to arrest warrants, authorities found multiple sexually explicit images involving minors.

Police said Cook was taken to the Wake County Detention Center, where he was processed on his outstanding warrants.

MyEyeDr, where Cook was employed, released a statement to ABC11 saying, in part:

"The safety and security of all our patients, especially children, is of the utmost importance for MyEyeDr. After learning of the arrest of Dr. Andy Cook, we have suspended our relationship with him."
