Boston Red Sox starter Walker Buehler received the news that he would be moved to the bullpen.
Buehler was scheduled to start on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles, but due to recent performances, the veteran righty was moved to the bullpen.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the move would likely be permanent to avoid flip-flopping roles.
“This is what we decided, he’ll help us over there and he’s going to help us win ballgames,” Cora said.
After games, Buehler has consistently been disappointed in his performances. He’s routinely commented on his own poor outings, even saying he didn’t know if he belonged in the league at one point.
Cora said Buehler responded professionally to the news, and Buehler looked for a silver lining .
