BENTON, Ark. — The family of a teenager shot and killed by a Benton police officer in 2016 is preparing for another legal fight.

A new appeal from the Schweikle family comes after a federal judge overturned a ruling that awarded them millions of dollars in damages.

In February 2024, a federal jury awarded the Schweikle family $32 million for the death of their 17-year-old son Keagan.

However, last April, a federal judge reversed that ruling.

Now, the nine year fight for justice continues and Keagan's family is set to appeal it for the third time in September.
