SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - After losing her seat in the 2024 primary election, former Sarasota School Board Chair Karen Rose is back.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday announced the appointment of Rose to the school board to replace Tim Enos, who recently resigned to take a position as head of the school district’s police department.

Rose’s appointment is effective Aug. 25.

Rose lost her seat in the 2024 primary election to current board member Liz Barker. Barker, a former school psychologist defeated Rose by a margin of less than 3,000 votes, with Barker receiving 51.49%, (51,739) of the votes to Rose’s 48.51% (48,747).

In late June, DeSantis also appointed Rose to the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota District Board of Trustees.
