MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Many auto insurance companies in Louisiana have announced that they are lowering their rates due to a decrease in accidents in 2024.
According to Forth Insurance agent Taylor Reeves, rates have recently dropped 2% compared to the 2% increase last year and the 15% jump in 2023.
Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says fewer accidents are just one reason for the drop.
“That is, a portion of it, I don’t want anyone to think that that’s the sole,” Temple said. “That’s the only thing that we should be focused on is lowering the number of accidents. There’s also cost associated, you know the the bodily injury claims filed, the medical bills, the litigation costs. ”
Reeves also said that new legislation have been a driving force.
