EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The cost of CenterPoint Energy’s energy bills the last few months have certainly left a hole in the wallets of many customers.

The line is not drawn at homeowners either. It includes many beloved dining establishments in Evansville as well.

This summer, many restaurants have seen their monthly energy bills increase by thousands of dollars. Many are doing whatever they can to stay afloat.

“Our bill has went up $4500 in the last few months,” said Kayla Phillippe, a Supervisor at Gerst Haus on Franklin Street.

Phillippe said she has never seen anything like this in the 14 years she has worked there.
