NEEDLES — After more than a decade without a grocery store, being designated a food desert and failed attempts to lure a grocery chain, Needles residents and community members are taking matters in their own hands.

River Communities Coalition held a special meeting last month at Palo Verde Community College Needles Center where guest speakers Kelley Bader and Matt Soliz spoke to more than half a dozen people about the possibility of forming a new community-owned cooperative grocery store. ×
