Every day, police officers respond to reports of all sorts of events and nonevents, most of which never make the news. Here is a sampling of lesser-known — but no less noteworthy — incidents from police log books (a.k.a. blotters) in our communities.

CHIPMUNK SAVED

A chipmunk that was in rough shape got a second lease on life after it was picked up by Billerica and Tewksbury Animal Control back in May. The cute little critter appeared to be suffering from hypothermia after surviving heavy rains, and was brought to Newhouse Wildlife Rescue in Chelmsford where it bounced back quickly, making a full recovery in two days. A video of the chipmunk being released showed it scampering energetically across some grass, looking very happy to be home.
