PEKIN ( 25News Now ) - Emergency crews in Pekin rescued a man who reportedly took his pickup truck off the road, driving straight into the Illinois River Friday afternoon.

Just before noon, the man reportedly drove the vehicle into the river. Emergency crews raced to recover the man, who was floating in the river. The same cannot be said for his pickup truck, which police are still searching for.

25News sent a crew to the scene near the Pekin Riverfront. As of noon, the heavy police presence is still there.

Several agencies, including Pekin Police, Pekin Fire, and Illinois Conservation Police responded to the call.

The status of the man is unknown at this time.
