PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A dentist’s trail-blazing legacy is being remembered in Peoria’s West Bluff where a street is being named for him.
City leaders joined with Dr. W. Roscoe McCall’s relatives for a street-naming ceremony on Friday.
McCall was one of Peoria’s first African American dentists. He practiced for 30 years before retiring in 2007. McCall died in 2023. He was 81.
McCall’s office was in the same building where his son Christopher McCall owns McCall Law Offices at 1225 N. North Street. Just outside is where one can find the honorary Dr. W. Roscoe McCall Street.
His other son, Rev. Steven McCall, applauds his father for being a mentor to many children, teaching them dentistry. Rev. McCall wants people to know that his dad helped nearly everyone he encountered.
