Before Antony Centeno-So began his promised journey to sobriety, the judge who sentenced him to nine years for manslaughter had a heart-to-heart chat.
“You’ve heard from me the reasons why I’ve imposed the sentence that I did,” said Superior Court Justice Ian Leach Friday afternoon, while Centeno-So stood before him for sentencing. “I did that, I think, not only to reflect the circumstances of the offence, but also, in my view, for your benefit.”
“You indicated to me that you want to change your life. I want to believe that and I hope you do. I hope you do that for your sake. I hope you do that for the sake of Mr. Cherrey-Rooke’s family and him.”
