IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa City West is coming off of four years with Jack Wallace as their starting quarterback. Wallace was impactful, earning Shrine Bowl honors.

With Wallace out the door, there is an active quarterback battle ongoing. Head coach, Garrett Hartwig, isn’t tipping anyone off on who could win the starting job.

“I’m going to keep that close to the vest right now,” said Hartwig.

It’ll be a team effort to replace Wallace’s contributions.

“Jack wrote his name in the record books here. He’ll be difficult to replace, but we’re not asking anyone to be Jack Wallace either,” said Hartwig.

Defensive back, Adrian DeWaard, said that the offensive line and running backs will play a big part in this year’s offense.
