WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The Wausau Fire Department EMS division chief accused of misconduct and theft was formally charged Friday in Marathon County Circuit Court. The judge issued a $25,000 signature bond. He will find out if his case has enough evidence to head to trial during a hearing in October.
Jared Thompson, 46, was arrested on multiple counts of misconduct in public office and theft, the Department of Justice announced on Thursday.
A statement from the Wausau Fire Department says staff members raised concerns about Thompson’s misuse of a controlled substance. An investigation was done by the DOJ.
The DOJ said, according to the criminal complaint, “Thompson was solely responsible for ordering fentanyl and other controlled substances. The criminal complaint alleges that, between Ja
