TAMPA -- The Rays are 1-0 in the Carson Williams era, thanks largely to Carson Williams.
The club’s No. 1 prospect -- and MLB’s No. 47 overall -- belted a momentum-shifting two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the Rays to a 10-6 victory over the Cardinals in his Major League debut on Friday.
When Williams stepped into the batter’s box in the seventh, his team had just seen its once six-run lead shrivel down to one thanks to St. Louis’ Nathan Church and Willson Contreras each hitting two-run homers in the top of the frame.

Williams, who hit five homers in his last 10 games at Triple-A Durham before he was called up on Thursday, smashed a four-seamer from Cardinals reliever Ryan Fern
