SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utah's reservoir levels are drastically declining, and the Utah Division of Water Resources say it's due to an extremely dry summer and increased usage.
The Utah Division of Water Resources (DWR) says that reservoir levels are down from last year, but water usage is up in 2025. Current statewide reservoir storage is at 67%, which is more than the normal level of 65%. However, storage levels are down significantly from 83% last year.
Additionally, while current levels are higher than the typical level this time of year, Utah is using its water resources more rapidly than previous years. Utah has drawn from its reservoirs at a rate more than double the normal rate since June 1, 2025.
