CHARLOTTE — In a sea of Panther-blue seats and parents and students clad in white T-shirts, flecks of Tennessee orange stood out from the crowd.

Teresa and Greg McMahan drove four hours from Dandridge, Tennessee to Charlotte's Bank of America stadium on Friday to watch Grimsley High School take on West Charlotte in both teams' season opener.

But instead of Whirlies gray and blue, the couple elected to dress head-to-toe in their Tennessee Volunteers gear to signal their reason for making the 200-mile trip: Faizon Brandon.

Brandon, the nation's No. 1 2026 recruit according to 247sports, committed to the University of Tennessee in August of last year over schools like Alabama, Ohio State, North Carolina and North Carolina State.
