PORTAGE, Wis. (WKOW) – Portage Police Chief Keith Klafke says Cameron Coronado, who faces a child abuse charge, has reached a separation agreement with the police department.

Coronado was placed on paid administrative leave following an investigation into his conduct. Chief Klafke said this is a standard procedural move governed by law. However, as of late Thursday, Klafke said Coronado is no longer a member of the Portage Police Department.

"This department remains committed to maintaining the confidence and trust of our community, and we will demonstrate that dedication through our actions," said Klafke.

Chief Klafke did not provide details about the separation agreement and did not take any questions during a Friday afternoon news conference.
