SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Cubs hosted another “Home Run for Life” event on Friday night.
It gives kids who have been treated at Beacon Children’s Hospital an opportunity to run the bases and meet their favorite players.
The runner was 11-year-old Gabe Rodriguez .
This is a big week for him because he started his first day of middle school and his birthday is only a few days away.
He’s not only been cancer free for years now, but he and his mom are giving back to kids who are going through the same things he’s battled himself.
Fans cheered for Rodriguez as he ran all the bases and after running was gifted his own custom South Bend Cubs jersey.
