EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- Utility rate increases from CenterPoint Energy have caused a local business owner to feel some financial strain.
Derek Ungethiem, owner of Six Strings on Franklin, says that the rate increases make it hard for businesses to stay alive.
"When all that stuff comes into one it's really hard for us to stay alive and push to make a business successful,” Ungethiem said. “So the only thing that that stuff will do and people will start seeing is that everyone will start to raise prices so it's going to affect everyone."
Ungethiem says that local protests can be the thing that pushes peoples voices to indianapolis and from there can make change in the utility rates. Earlier this week, he made a post on Facebook showing his bill from September of last year to this year.
