A 14-year-old has been charged with murder in connection to Monday's deadly shooting on Torrance Drive, according to police.

Huntsville Police provided an update Friday, saying investigators with their Major Crimes Unit determined an altercation escalated when the juvenile produced a firearm and fatally shot the victim.

The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. Monday in the 4400 block of Torrance Drive. Officers located the victim, identified as 30-year-old Shaquon Lashay Moore, in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Police say, despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A nearby apartment had also been struck by gunfire during the incident. Police say no one inside was injured.
