A complaint that alleged Gov. Gavin Newsom violated campaign law by holding a rally relating to redistricting has been rejected.
Republican Assemblymember Kate Sanchez filed the complaint last week , accusing the governor of misusing taxpayer funds to hold a rally that appeared to launch a campaign supporting the redistricting ballot initiative.
Under California's Political Reform Act , official state business and campaign-related activity are to be separate.
The Fair Political Practices Commission for the state of California on Friday said it would not pursue the complaint.
"While the Act contains prohibitions regarding certain mailings being sent at public expense... the Act does not otherwise prohibit the use of public funds for campaign activity," stated a rejection letter si
