Who is the best TV stand-up comedian? In the immortal words of Harry Hill: "There's only one way to decide it - FIGHT!" But as that option isn't available, TV critic Gary Bushell has named who he believes are the 10 best comedians of all time.

Bushell, who has been a journalist and critic for 40 years for several national publishers, says his list is a "considered top ten of stand-up comedians who also make or made TV shows". He adds that the list is "confined to solo turns (so no Morecambe & Wise) and doesn't include comedy magicians like the immortal Tommy Cooper or the squeakier Joe Pasquale".

Writing his list for The Express , he invites readers to "feel free to disagree at the end". Which, judging by some of the names on this list, is probably likely.
