CROWN POINT — Since a young age, Dikembe Shaw has dreamed of playing basketball at the highest level.

His dedication and work ethic have helped turn that goal into reality.

The 6-foot-7 forward finished his junior year with 11 Division I offers.

Bradley, Kent State and Murray State were just a few he had received before announcing his commitment last weekend. After thoughtful consideration, Shaw ultimately committed to the University of Illinois Chicago.

Shaw received an offer from UIC coach Rob Ehsan last July. He said constant communication with the coaching staff over the past year fueled his decision.

Shaw even joked that he sometimes communicated with the UIC coaches more than his friends.
