"Aaron, sit your butt down," Greek Fest chairman Michael Paviadakis told me 30 seconds into our conversation. "I'm going to bring you some food."
And that he did: Gyro meat. Lamb chops. Pita. Alfa beer. Loukoumades (more on them below). The water was "American," alas.
The Greek community in the Region is roughly 115 years old and Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral has been hosting Greek fest for almost 50 years, but this is the first time since before the pandemic that the festival will be a dine-in, in-person event, with live music and nice, old Greek yiayias serving baklava and other freshly-baked pastries.
The pastries are the festival's secret weapon.
