AIKEN — Plans are in place for one of Aiken County's biggest September traditions, with Aiken's Makin' on track to draw hundreds of crafters and thousands of other visitors to downtown Aiken Sept. 5-6, under the Aiken Chamber of Commerce's guidance.

Park Avenue, in keeping with tradition, will be the center of operations for the 49th annual event, and activities are to begin at 9 a.m. both days, with about 219 crafters on board, and about 25 percent of those being from around Aiken County. Closing times are 6 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday.

The remainder are from around Georgia, the Carolinas, Alabama, Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania and as far afield as Arizona. Approximately 33 percent of the crafters were not on board for the 2024 event, according to a chambe
