CHARLESTON — A second day of sustained rainfall is keeping parts of the peninsula underwater.

In a post on X , the National Weather Service Charleston station warned of dangerous flooding expected in downtown Charleston due to a “combination of moderate rainfall and an elevated high tide.” A flash flood warning from the NWS is in effect for much of the city, including all of the peninsula and eastern parts of West Ashley, until 10:15 a.m.

The city’s road closure website lists about 40 intersections and stretches of roadway the could be inundated and another 15 that are completely impassible and closed die to flooding. A map of road closures in the city of Charleston can be found here , and a list of closures is below.
