CHARLESTON – Five years after a former industrial property on the peninsula went under contract, the deal finally closed for $10 million.

The property at 578 Meeting St., a onetime motorcycle sales shop that later became a milk plant, has been on the market for a decade with the pandemic throwing a wrench in a potential sooner closing.

The buyer, Flournoy Development Group, proposed in 2021 to build a 200-plus-unit multifamily structure on the land, where Regis Milk operated for more than 50 years before shutting down in 2011 . The long-expected sale of the property was finalized July 31, according to public real estate records.

“This was a study of patience and persistence,” listing agent Jack Owens with NAI Charleston said. “Their timing was horrible in the process.”
