CROWN POINT — Alina Williams can bring a different element to Lake Central.
The sophomore hitter made some noise at the season-opening tournament in Crown Point last weekend, securing 17 kills in 10 sets and helping Lake Central to a 2-2 record. She sprayed hits all over the court, finding the middle of an exposed defense against a tough Brownsburg squad on one play.
This week, Williams chipped in 15 kills in six sets as the Indians secured two wins over Illiana Christian and Andrean, helping Lake Central to an early 4-2 record.
Williams is appreciative of the opportunity she has in front of her as a sophomore. After playing mostly junior varsity as a freshman, she's ready to step up to the plate for a talented Lake Central squad.
