CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Looking for a furry companion? Help us Clear the Shelters this weekend.

Each year, NBC stations across the country – including News 2 – team up with animal shelters for an annual event aimed at finding forever homes for dogs, cats, and other animals in need of adoption.

1,206 animals were adopted from our local shelters last year, meaning more than 1,000 new family members were saved from kennels and brought into a new home – and we want to increase that number this year.

If your family can accommodate a life-long pet, stop by one of our area shelters to take home your new furry friend. Many will offer special deals on adoptions during the event.
