CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -- The City of Charleston is extending free parking hours at two downtown garages as a stalled front continues to dump heavy rain on the peninsula.

The garage at the Charleston Tech Center (997 Morrison Drive) and the 99 WestEdge garage (across from the RiverDogs Stadium, not the Publix garage) will now be open until 9 a.m. Sunday.

Multiple roads throughout the city are closed due to standing water, and additional closures are possible as bands of rain continue to move through.

Some heavy rain could coincide with the 9 p.m. high tide Saturday, which could reach 7.6 feet or higher. Officials said water may accumulate in areas that do not typically flood.
