CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Communities across the Lowcountry experienced flooding Friday and Saturday due to heavy rain associated with a stationary front that stalled over the region.

The cold front brought rounds of rain and thunderstorms over the two days; heavy rainfall saturated the ground, causing flash flooding across the metro.

Numerous roads were closed throughout the day on Friday and Saturday morning. The National Weather Service said some areas observed six to nine inches of rain from 8 a.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

NWS forecasters warned that another round of coastal flooding was possible between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday, with high tide expected to occur between 8:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., meaning some roads may be impassable.
