FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A man has been arrested in the Pee Dee after police say a shoplifting incident led to a drug bust.

The Florence Police Department said that on Wednesday, officers responded to a Walmart on Beltline Road.

Police say they arrested 38-year-old Stephen Gottshall of Lexington and charged him with shoplifting, trafficking methamphetamine, and possession of MDMA.

Officers said they discovered 36 grams of methamphetamine on him.

A search warrant was obtained for Gottshall’s car at the scene, and police found 1,045 grams of crystal meth, 0.5 grams of MDMA, and 20 grams of marijuana

He is being held at the Florence County Detention Center with a $1,000 bond for the shoplifting, $25,000 for the MDMA, and no bond set for the meth.
