As encampments get dismantled by city workers and private landowners, the homeless just pick up and move to another area of the city and set up all over again.

The never-ending cycle of homeless encampments has kept bylaw officers busy and volunteer outreach workers exhausted.

City crews were seen removing mattresses, sleeping bags, and bags of garbage this week from a bushy area near Apollo Gymnastics on the shores of Lake Nipissing.

“The city has addressed a number of encampments this summer in response to frequent complaints,” said Ron Melnyk, By-Law Enforcement Supervisor with the City of North Bay.
