The multiple-fatality tour bus accident on the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90) on Friday afternoon, Aug. 22, closed all lanes in both directions near the scene. The crash involved the eastbound bus occurred between Exit 48A ( Pembroke /New York state Route 77) and Exit 49 (Depew/Lockport/NY Route 78), near mile marker 403.0, state police said.

Five people have been confirmed dead. Multiple others have been taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.
