At around 3:10 p.m. local time on Friday, Aug. 22, a portion of the bridge in China's Qinghai province fell into the water below when a steel cable broke, local outlets China Daily and China News Service (CNS) reported.
The cable failure caused a steel girder arch measuring about 354 feet to collapse while 16 workers were on site at the time, the outlets said.
