What activities should I be doing to get maximum production from my vegetables and maximum beauty from my flowers?

It is obvious that we need to pay close attention to our watering with the dry weather we are having. Watering is most efficient if it is done in the early morning when evaporation is lowest. It is also most efficient if enough water is applied to reach the entire root system and then allow two or three days to dry.

I get concerned whether trees are getting enough water when we are conserving by giving lawns less water. The most efficient way to get water to the deep tree roots is to place a drip or soaker hose around the tree at the outer limits of the branches.
