OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Spring Lake Park in South Omaha has a smelly problem. City officials say they’re in a Catch-22 trying to solve it.
At first, looking around Spring Lake Park, you may notice a few plastic cups, or a dog house, or even a shopping cart.
“We’ve seen big and small litter,” said Jose Flores Jr., South Omaha Neighborhood Alliance President.
None of it comes as a surprise.
Baby cribs, tires, roofing materials, couches and bags of trash have all been spotted in the brush and by the road by cleaning crews.
The dumping is seemingly never ending.
“People come down here cause it’s out of sight, and they’ll use this as an opportunity to just get rid of their junk or whatever it is they don’t want to pay to get rid of somewhere,” said David Austin, City of Omaha Parks Operation
