After a miracle 2024 season during which they got excellent quarterback play from Sam Darnold, the Minnesota Vikings have a new man under center in JJ McCarthy, who missed all of last year, which would've been his rookie year, with a meniscus injury.
They seem to have relatively high hopes for him, but that doesn't at all mean he will pan out. Therefore, it would seem to make sense to have an experienced backup behind him just in case things go south.
Minnesota's other options at the QB spot are Sam Howell, who has played 20 games in the NFL , Brett Rypien, who has appeared in 10 games and only started in four of them and Max Brosmer, an undrafted rookie.
