CLEVELAND, Ohio – Northeast Ohio’s dining scene continues to expand, with a wave of recent openings that highlight the strong presence of fast-casual concepts in the region.

From health-forward salad bars to familiar national chains, the past several weeks have seen a cluster of new arrivals that emphasize quick service with fresh ingredients.

In a way, the openings buck somewhat challenging times for the fast-casual industry.

Despite fast-casual chain sales among the top 500 showing 9% growth last year, according to Restaurant Business , the market is taking some hits. This week, Newsweek reported on the fast-casual sector, saying in part:
