Penn State football leads the way with the USA TODAY Sports preseason All-America team.

Coach James Franklin and his Nittany Lions , who own their highest ranking to start a season in 26 years, placed three players on the USA TODAY first team — running back Nick Singleton, guard Vega Ioane and defensive tackle Zane Durant .

Penn State's co-starting tailback, Kaytron Allen, earned second-team honors.

Penn State tied Clemson for the most first-team selections. PSU's four overall picks were second only to the Tigers (five).
