Determined to “believe in the good,” an 11-year-old Broomfielder has been offering clothes, food and assistance to her neighbors in need.

When most kids her age might be preparing for the incoming school year, Elaina Johnson focused on one of her nonprofit’s latest projects — a drive aimed at filling an important niche for her classmates who need support.

“Everyone does school drives for pencils and notebooks; that’s great and all, but what about personal things like an outfit and shoes to feel confident?” Elaina said.

The drive was created with the focus of making sure kids headed back to school would have nice clothing to wear, especially for the all-important first day, she said.
