ALDEN, N.Y. — An Amherst woman died following a car crash that happened Friday afternoon in the Town of Alden.

The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Walden Avenue and Genesee Street. That's where, according to the Erie County Sheriff's Office , a Honda SUV and a tractor trailer collided.

Carol Privitera, 80, of Amherst was driving the SUV. She was heading east on Genesee Street and stopped at the sign at Walden Avenue.

"As the tractor trailer was traveling westbound on Genesee Street and continuing straight onto Walden Avenue with the right-of-way, the SUV made a slight left turn to continue onto Genesee Street. The two vehicles collided in the intersection," the sheriff's office said.
