A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a mail carrier was assaulted while delivering mail in Waverley Heights.

On August 21, at about 1:23 p.m., the carrier was confronted by a resident while making deliveries. Police say the encounter quickly escalated when the man shoved the carrier to the ground and continued the assault. During the incident, the suspect tried to steal the victim’s phone, damaging it in the process.

A passing delivery driver intervened and helped the carrier until police were called. The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

Through their investigation, West District General Patrol officers identified the suspect and arrested him the following day at his residence without incident.
